I used to like it when we were together. 

There was a time when you understood me better than I understood myself.

That touched me so deep, because I was used to being misunderstood, rejected, left out. 

When we were together, it felt like that was all I needed. 

You were peering into my soul, and I was naked, raw; unashamed.

Today I woke up, and you weren’t next to me. Laughter has gone quiet. 

Brazen attempts just feel foolish now.

You’re peering into me; but it’s no longer my soul you’re seeing.
